“I knew I had the potential,” says Doreen Nabbengo, an Amazima sponsored university student. Doreen, 22 years old, smart and hardworking, attends Makerere Universtiy in Kampala. She is studying business administration. When she graduates she plans to manage her own business to help farmers.
Doreen is the oldest of five brothers and one sister and grew up in Butema village. Her mother and father did what they could to support her but did not have enough funds to afford college. While volunteering in the office of a local primary school, she met Katie who invited her into the Amazima program.
“Amazima has opened the door to new opportunities. I do not worry about my next meal or if I will graduate. I now have hope. I have reached higher than I thought I ever could. It is my prayer that Amazima live long!”
Doreen speaks with energy and zeal as she talks about the promises in the Bible. “My favorite book is Luke. When I read it, I gain confidence that God is on my side. I do not have to fear.”
Thank you for helping Amazima send hard-working students like Doreen to college. Amazma currently has 4 University students and we hope to add many more to the program in the years to come!
