In 2009, hundreds of Amazima sponsored children (some who would walk for miles) met in Katie’s backyard for food, fellowship, and bible teaching. Realizing the program had outgrown her own home, Katie purchased a plot of land for Amazima.
On our new property, Amazima constructed a chapel which serves as a place of worship every Saturday. We also trained several young Ugandan men (as a vocational project) in carpentry skills and hired them to build a beautiful playground made of locally sourced materials. On Saturdays after singing and Bible study, the children swing, climb, and explore the playground.
Recently Amazima put to use more land on our property through the cultivation of a garden. We are now growing tomatoes and onions, which are then used to help feed the children lunch each Saturday afternoon. The harvest has been so bountiful that we’ve sold some of our produce to provide revenue and subsidize the cost of lunches every Saturday.
We also intend to use this garden as a demonstration farm for the local community. Many Ugandans need training in farming techniques like planting and field preparation. We’re very excited about the positive effects this initiative could have on the Ugandan people. We would love your prayers as we research and move towards launching this initiative.

His fruit will be bountiful...your vision is amazing...
