The Little Things Aren't So Little

It’s that time of the year. As of Saturday, over 700 children in our Education Sponsorship Outreach have all the school supplies they’ll need for their third and final term of the school year. Our staff in Uganda purchases and organizes the school supplies, then spends a couple of days passing everything out.

This past Friday, all of the secondary students received their school supplies, which includes basics like pens, pencils and notebooks. They also receive items like shoe polish, shavers and ledger books since they’ll be away from home at secondary school (boarding school). On Saturday, primary students received their supplies. These primary school supplies are limited to pens, pencils, and other stationary supplies since primary students attend day schools and live at home.

We enjoy this time of the year so much because the children come back from their break eager to finish the academic school year strong. While on holiday, they spend a lot of time with their mentors learning life skills and biblical teachings. Our staff loves knowing that the children will put what they’ve been learning with their mentors into practice at school.

We don’t take for granted the seemingly small act of passing out school supplies. We know we’re not just passing out paper and pencils; we’re passing out tools that will aid in giving them an education and a future.

As always, thank you for joining us on this journey!

  1. beautiful!!! I have seen those faces before in a different shade of brown here in Guatemala. School supplies are a gift that one takes for granted in the states. Thank you for all you do and the inspiration. Much love from Guatemala!
