As the sun creeps up the sky and scatters its energy-filled
light across the Nile River, running into the great Lake Victoria, fishermen
begin to throw their nets wide over the waters. They fight with the nets in their lap and then, without warning, throw
their arms in the air as the net reaches out towards the furthest ends of the
lake.
They wait.
They then pull and
tug and twist, reeling in their precious catch.
Relief fills their beings because these are the fish that will provide
sustenance for their families, their villages, and their community.
This picture is striking in light of Jesus’s words written
so boldly across the pages of John.
“Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Aren’t we all striving to do what these fishermen are doing
right in front of us? Shouldn't we be?
We set our eyes upon those we have been called towards and
we wait, hoping to wrap them in God’s net of inescapable, all entangling
love. Hoping to reel them into our boat
of Christ’s community. Hoping that they,
too, will provide spiritual sustenance for their families, their villages, and
their communities.
Wherever you are in the world, we hope you hear Christ's beckoning to join Him on this journey of becoming fishers of men. His love is too wonderful to keep to ourselves.
Thank you for your prayers and support! We couldn't do what we do without you.
Beautiful! Praying for the Amazima staff as they spread Christ's love.
