We’re Building a CHAPEL!
Amazima is in the process of constructing a small chapel! We are SO excited about this project, and eager to share about it with you!
On Saturdays, over 400 sponsored children come to Amazima to learn about Jesus and study the Bible, eat, worship, and play. These children have been meeting (happily) in grassy pastures with no chairs and no roof over their head. However, when the weather turns bad, we have no place to gather.
But now, by God’s grace and with your help, Amazima has begun construction on our first chapel! We give God all the glory!
During the week Amazima’s outreach to the community continues to increase. We need a place for organized classes and community activities. We plan to use the new chapel for nursery classes, English classes for adults in the community, agriculture classes, and much more. Our hope is that this chapel is a beacon of Jesus for the community!
Construction on this new chapel began a few months ago. Led by our Amazima employee, Brad, and his foreman, Sam, we hired several teenage boys (who helped us with the Amazima playground) to build on their carpentry skills.
As for materials, every part of the chapel is locally sourced, from the concrete to the grass used for the roof. The grass was bought from local women who cut it down, packed it into trucks and delivered it. We had 1,700 bundles of grass! We used hardware purchased from a locally owned shop, operated by a woman. We’ve found that women tend to invest their money into their families rather than other less desirable alternatives. Every piece of the chapel was built from Uganda for Uganda to the praise and glory of God.
We are overwhelmed by your gifts, prayers, and partnership. Thank you for helping make this possible!
