Easter.
A time when life springs forth, the tomb is opened and the
grave is overcome. Where there was death
and mourning only three days ago….there
is rejoicing now.
There have been situations this past year where we have
stared at death’s face and wondered where the hope was. In some of those cases, we were privileged to
see the stone pushed back and the light be released, beaming, from the face’s
of those who healed completely. We have
seen the healing of bodies and the mending of families and the hope for futures
grow.
In others, we saw the
stones pushed over the graves and we sit, confident in hope that we will see
those same stones cast aside on a day where life will return to those still
bodies, where the broken relationships will be mended, and the injustices will
be righted.
We are reminded by the resurrection of our Lord that we have
confidence in what He won for us and hope in what is yet to come. That in the darkest of times, there may be
the brightest hope just days into the future.
We rejoice in the redemption we see now, and wait
expectantly for the redemption that is yet to come.
The grave is open. The tomb is empty. Christ is risen.
Thank you Katie for your love and sacrifice, your life exemplifies the love of Jesus..'Happy Easter" (Resurrection Day) to all the children and staff at "Amazima"

ReplyDeleteWhat a Beautiful picture: The scenery/photograph, Your words here and in your book, And God's Love! I borrowed your book from the library. I have wanted to read it since it came out and I saw a video of you on YouTube and it made me cry. I am almost finished reading your book. I have 1/2 a chapter left to read and I don't want it to end. My husband wants to read it when I am done. I want to buy four copies soon 1 for my son, my daughter, my step daughter, and for myself and my husband to share. Since I was very young I have always admired Mother Teresa and when I grew I wanted to be like her. You remind me of her. I grew, I strayed a little off the path. I do what I am able to do to follow God and be his servant where I am. My children now are almost grown. And I still have that longing ache that God planted in my heart so long ago when I was very young. I would Love to come and visit someday. I long to hold, feed, and rock the babies who have no one to Love them and to be the arms and feet of Jesus to them. God's Love, Strength, and Blessings to you Always!!! Your Sister in Christ, Stephanie Nativemamawolf@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAmen :) Praise the Lord. I am always so blessed by the words of wisdom and encouragement that you send. Thank you, sweet sister for your obedience to our Savior..and your beautiful servant's heart. I am praying that the Lord continues to give you strength and new hope every morning. We know He will :) Your story is just another amazing example of just how powerfully Jesus can use us in the lives of others when we are willing to step out in faith, and be His hands and feet. Stepping out of our comfort zones is never easy, and it usually goes against everything society tells us to do. It can make you feel small and completely unqualified. The amazing thing is that the Lord is always enough....He is the strength, the courage, the security, and the glorious qualifier. When we step out on shaky feet, He is ready to support us. He is there with all that we need in those moments. Often when we shrink back to our places of "safety" and refuse to step out into uncertainty, we miss the biggest blessings. A ship can stay safe in the harbour, but that's not what ships were made for :) Love you, my sister. I am praying for you and your sweeties. -Caitlin Campbell
ReplyDeletepretty nice blog, following :)
ReplyDeleteDear Katie,
ReplyDeleteA year ago, when I was 16 years old, God burdened my heart with a deep, deep love for the imprisoned children of Uganda that SixtyFeet reaches. I wanted to hop on a plane & come to them right away to tell of the hope that is found in Jesus, to gather them in my arms. That even in their desperate, desolate circumstances, they are precious in His sight.
Long story short, Jesus gave me the desire of my heart & more!!
About a month ago, I flew halfway across the world with my dad to the place which I had been longing for. We went on a SixtyFeet missions trip. It was incredible!!! UG felt like home almost right away. I even wrote in my Bible the first Sunday we were there worshipping at a church in the Bwerenga village, "Uganda is Home."
At the end of our trip (4/4/14), we traveled to Jinja & visited Amazima. It was truly a blessing to be in a place where God is moving, touching so many lives!! When I read your book a couple of years ago, it was my first intro to UG. Now when I pick it up, reading your heart about the kids I think, "I've written things almost identical to this in my own journal!!"
When God places such a deep passion inside of a heart, it cannot be ignored. I have promised to follow wherever He leads. I know I will be going back there someday, my shoes covered in red soil once more. I will bounce along the dirt roads. There are countless lives that need the healing balm of Jesus' love spread over the wounds they carry, some at such a young age. I am only one person...not capable of much, I know. But, my life can touch another, 10 more...100...1,000 others when I lay it down at His feet.
Love,
Moriah
