Sharing the Joy - ideas for incorporating Amazima into your wedding
When Jenn Dobbins married Jermaine last year, the couple knew they wanted to be mindful of their impact on others as they planned the wedding. Jenn shared,
"Jermaine & I have been richly blessed in our lives, and when it came to wedding registries, we decided to go the route less followed. We made a list of charities that we love and asked our guests to join us in supporting Amazima Ministries, Liberia Mission, and Feeding America. A portion of the generous funds we received from our wedding guests was donated to the organizations listed above, and I put together several info boards about these organizations to display at the wedding. We also had pamphlets our guests could take home to learn more.
"Another way we were deliberate in our spending on wedding extras was through the purchase of beautiful Amazima multi-coloured bead necklaces for the bridal party gifts, as well as presents for our Moms (who both love the same shade of purple that this one comes in!). I've had the opportunity to volunteer with Amazima sorting these beautiful hand made bead necklaces when they arrive from Uganda, and they are just incredible to see. Even better than the beauty of the necklaces is the program that allows women in the Masese community of Uganda to be gainfully employed making the jewelry, and the proceeds fund a feeding program that helps 1200 children daily!!
"Jermaine and I also encouraged our guests to donate to Amazima directly to support the incredible work they are doing in Uganda. Donating to charitable organizations and spending deliberately definitely took some planning, but we were so happy to share the joy of our wedding day with many others in need." We are humbled and thrilled to have been such an important part of Jenn and Jermaine's big day! Have you included Amazima in your wedding, birthday, or another occasion? Let us know in the comments.
We were so happy to share the happiness and generosity of our wedding day with our brothers & sisters in Christ - ALL around the world!! We love Amazima and the work that you are doing in Uganda and in hearts across the globe - thank you for letting us include you in our special day!!
ReplyDeleteJenn,
DeleteWhat a fabulous idea! I've never heard of anyone doing something like that before. You and your husband have amazingly generous hearts, especially being young. We see so much self absorption in our culture, you two set an amazing example. I'm sharing your story with my family, my prayers is that we'll all be as generous as you!
