Meet Amazima's Newest Employee Elijah

Five days a week, Monday through Friday, Amazima feeds over 1,600 hungry children lunch at a school outside the slum community of Masese.  The scene is quite overwhelming as children swarm outside a small kitchen waiting to be served their meal.  Overseeing it all is Amazima’s newest employee, Elijah Lolem.
To feed so many children, Amazima purchases around 800 kilos of both beans and posho each week.  In addition to the cooks, there are servers and chaperones working together to serve lunch to so many children as smoothly as possible.
Elijah comes from Northeastern Uganda and speaks Karimojong, the language that is spoken in roughly 75% of Masese.  Elijah joined Amazima this summer as an experienced liaison between locals and NGOs (non-government organizations).
Elijah has a heart for Jesus, and he shares: “I trust in God when I find things are really hard. I pray and believe God can make it right. In the sight of the workers, I teach them the word of God and they understand, and then things change.”
With a positive attitude toward his work, Elijah is an encouragement to those around him. Seeing the benefits of nutrition at schools, he offers, “I hope this program will enlarge and reach some areas close to Masese III, also.  Many children are surviving through this program. Not the Karimojong only, but other tribes as well.”
