MALARIA PREVENTION IN MASESE

This month every bed in Masese was covered with a mosquito net to prevent deadly malaria!  Thanks to your help and through Equip International (a partner organization), lives will be SAVED!! THANK YOU THANK YOU.

All recipients of these life-saving nets also received a day of education and training about the correct way to use the nets.

Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease, and Uganda has the third highest number of deaths by malaria in Africa, killing more than 320 Ugandans a day.  Every 30 seconds, a child somewhere dies of malaria. In any given year, nearly ten percent of the global population will suffer a case of malaria. Children are especially vulnerable to malaria. In Africa, where 80% of malaria cases are treated at home, the disease kills one child in twenty before the age of five. (source: Malaria Foundation International)
