We were recently contacted by Denise Hooper, who is a member of the "Hooks and Needles" group at GoodNaz church in Goodlettsville, TN. As this group read through Katie's book, the women were inspired to get involved with the work being accomplished in Uganda. The ladies knit and crocheted many beautiful items that were then sold at a church event to benefit Amazima.
We are humbled to hear about the many creative ways Amazima supporters use their gifts and talents to change lives in Uganda! Here is the note we received from Denise after this unique fundraising project was completed.
Dear Amazima,
It was great to talk to you again. We received the Amazima files you sent and held our sale of knitting items. We have throughly enjoyed using Kisses from Katie as our Wednesday night devotional. It is a terrific reminder of how blessed we all really are. We raised $265 and are very pleased to forward this money to you for Amazima Ministries. We would have loved for the amount to be much larger, but we know God can stretch it like the loaves and fished. We in the Hooks and Needles group feel honored that we could be used, even if it seems like such a small way, to help promote the Kingdom of God.
May God richly bless all of you as you work so hard to help those in such desperate need.
Merry Christmas to each of you,
Denise Hooper for GoodNaz Hooks and NeedlesThank you to all of the members of this wonderful group!
Do you have an idea for a community project of your own to benefit our ministry? Leave us a comment to tell us your ideas!
My two daughters are planning a fund-raiser. Katie's book helped open their eyes to the disparity between what they have and what others lack. They've seen the excess materials possessions we have and want to use our plenty to meet the needs of the poor. They are busy going through our house, boxing up "stuff" that once seemed so important but truly is not. They are going to have a garage sale in April and invite their entire 4H Club to participate. All of the proceeds will be sent to Amazima.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any promotional materials that might help them in their advertising?
Thanks,
Nicole (on behalf of Anna and Ellie)
