Saturdays at Amazima

Saturdays at Amazima, the 400 sponsored children gather to worship Jesus, eat food, and have fun.  We purposefully have Ugandan men lead our Saturday festivities because it is so important for these children to have positive male role models.  We sing songs, laugh a lot, eat a good meal, and bond.  The children have come to rely on Saturday mornings, knowing they will see trusted faces and worship Jesus with a full tummy and hope for what is to come!  Recently we recruited, trained, and hired Ugandan young men to build a playground on the Amazima site.  It is the first time most of these children have slid down a slide or played on a swing.  We love seeing God's children rejoicing!

Hello Amazima friends!

Hello Amazima friends and partners!

This is the FIRST blog post of the new Amazima blog.  We are so excited to connect with you all.

We want to start off saying THANK YOU.  Thank you for partnering with Katie and our team in Uganda.  Thank you for praying and spreading the word.  Thank you for all your encouragement.  We are so grateful.

Katie never went to Uganda intending to start Amazima Ministries.  She went as high-school graduate in obedience to God's call on her life.  She saw needs and responded.  She wrote friends and family.  She began to blog.  Many of you have been with us from the VERY beginning.  WOW.  We are amazed at what God has done!

Now, two and a half years into the ministry, the Board of Directors of Amazima Ministries has decided to add an Amazima blog, in addition to Katie's blog, as a way to keep you informed of what is going on with our organization.  We want you to see the people you are impacting.  We want you to have pictures.  We want you to know the reasons behind what we do.  We want you to feel included.  We need your partnership, not for us, but on behalf of the treasured children and people in Uganda.

Thanks for joining with us!  We praise God for you.

"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." 1 John 4:11-12
