St. Moses Primary School

In the community of Bukaya just outside Jinja sits St. Moses Primary School, one of the largest private schools in the area.  Over 650 children attend St. Moses, and almost 25% of its students are sponsored through Amazima Ministries.

Students at St. Moses range from nursery school to Primary 7 (7th grade equivalent). Founded in the 1980s by a local children’s care center, Amazima has worked closely with the school since the beginning of our sponsorship program (in 2008).

“Amazima helps us to get in touch with our community because we get to know the guardians of these children. We get to know the problems the community is facing,” shares Deputy Head Teacher, Betty Akobo.
In addition to providing education for Amazima sponsored children, each student receives both breakfast and lunch at school. Amazima also provides a mini-bus to pick up and drop off the children at their homes to avoid long walks to and from school.

“We appreciate Amazima so much because they have helped most of these children. The children arrive fresh and very energetic to learn. They want to learn.  If these children would have been left to be the way there were, they would not have been able to reach this far,” says Mrs. Akobo.
We feel blessed to partner with the teachers and administrators at St. Moses.  And we are grateful to all our sponsors for helping feed, educate, and disciple these Ugandan children.

  1. This is so wonderful that Amazima can help these children. What happens to them after they finish 7th grade?
